When you consider the pickup being totally a work truck for decades and the evolution of what manufacturers are gearing towards in todays market, it is astounding. Not everyone uses their pickup for strictly work anymore. Many truck owners are loving being able to drive their pickup and have all the luxury of a sedan at the same time. But how much luxury is too much?
In 2018 Mercedes may introduce to the USA their new luxurious and robust X-class pickup, labeling it perfection on wheels. Mercedes absolutely has the reputation for possibly the best auto company in the world, offering many various models in many types of vehicles making them extremely popular the world over. When they introduce a new auto or truck, you can expect it to be spectacular and win overall popularity, building a momentum for release that has potential buyers anxious to see what Mercedes Benz is offering next. It is already being driven in many European countries sooner than the USA will see it.
Auto markets in Europe are already enjoying the newest MB mid-size pickup called X-class. The exterior is very futuristic in design with an overall modern look to it. There will be no doubt when you see it that you are looking at a Mercedes, with its familiar front grille with the MB logo in the middle of it, with lots of chrome and chrome accents, including one more chrome line on the off-road model called the Stylish Adventurer. The front bumper on that model will be very large and macho looking while the tailgate will be grid-style. The on-road version, called the Stylish Explorer, will include more of an elegant look with beautifully designed LED fog lights. Both models will have sharp-looking twenty two inch aluminum wheels.
Interior design will feature the elegance and class that Mercedes is well known for. No surprise there. High-tech cabin features will include room for as many as 3 passengers, ability for all types of media connectivity using touch screen, exemplary safety options, leather seats and a dashboard consisting of finished woods and aluminum features. There is no doubt the X-Class will provide an ultra comfort ride with plenty of amenities. As for the engine, it is said to have basically double the best tow capacity of the Chevy Colorado diesel.
I am wondering what the price tag will be on this fabulous new pickup. Will it be affordable to others beyond those that are already accustomed to the very best? Does the US not have luxury models that can compete without such a hefty price tag? Truck owners need to ask themselves just how much they are willing to spend on the newest and best the automotive industry has to offer, as opposed to quality, comfortable high-end priced trucks that offer many of the amenities that MB is offering. To me, is that like spending so much more because of a name associated with it? There will always be top-ofthe-line products that are connotative with having THE best, and there are folks who will always want them.
Many luxury pickup trucks, such as the Lincoln LT, GMC Denali, and the Cadillac Escalade EXT have quality reputations, luxurious cabins and impeccable safety features with plenty of bells and whistles, without the staggering price tag. Thank goodness there are so many choices for the discerning truck owner who does not want to settle for ho-hum. There is quite a difference in best and very best when it comes to the price tag, but if money is no object, why not treat yourself to the ultimate ride?
